What We Do

The Head of Creative for Banana Republic is responsible for establishing, leading and directing the overarching creative strategy for Banana Republic Global while ensuring a unified, omni-channel brand presentation to the customer. Through deep understanding of the Banana Republic customer and his/her needs, the Head of Creative is responsible for creating a compelling customer experience that evolves and cements a strong emotional connection while building brand equity. 

PRIMAY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set the overall tone and direction for creative; guide and lead creative execution across all marketing vehicles and channels including online creative, print and collateral, PR, marketing assets and messages that support merchandising and brand objectives
  • Partners with a broad spectrum of leaders across Banana Republic with emphasis on other key leaders in marketing and leaders in merchandising and inventory planning
  • Collaborate closely with Chief Marketing Officer and his/her cross functional team
  • Hire, deveop and retain a high-caliber cross-functional creative team by assessing current and future needs, developing a holistic organization model and inspiring creativity and collaboration
  • Lead and own the overall brand aesthetic in all creative elements including design, photography and voice
  • Build consumer awareness and loyalty through a compelling creative brand presentation in all customer touch points with a digital first mentality
  • Proactively evolve the creative brand execution to address consumer feedback while preserving our brand essence and heritage
  • Work with creative brand leaders to define seasonal conceptual needs and proactively lead collaborative conceptual development of seasonal big ideas and campaigns, ensuring delivery against key deadlines
  • Review and approve locations, casting and photo art direction; direct photo shoots and creative team on location; approve all final marketing imagery for print production
  • Build and manage comprehensive creative marketing budget
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 15+ years creative marketing experience in print, retail and online that links to brand positioning
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act both creatively and strategically
  • Proven agility in responding to business plans and evolving business trends
  • Understanding of creative execution elements and processes that are specific to each medium / channel of customer communication
  • Proven thought leadership across a variety of stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to travel monthly (e.g. photoshoots, product review)
  • Strong track record of nurturing, developing and retaining highly talented creative team members
  • Deep strategic insight into how to drive customer engagement
  • Exceptional people management and mentoring skills, with particular strength in building a collaborative work environment
  • Excellent innovation management skills; able to lead vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of creativity that pushes innovative ideas while guiding the team to connect with the customer and deliver on core brand attributes
  • Possess strategic understanding of competitor positioning, differentiators, strengths and weaknesses
  • Deep understanding of multi-channel retail practices, advances and shifts in the marketplace and consumer technologies
